This week’s eight (8) anglers had excellent mid size fish action. On River Plate’s exclusive Matupiri Indian Reserve they landed 1442 Peacock Bass of which 228 were in the 8 -15 lbs. class and 17 were in the 16-19 lbs. class.
WATER LEVELS AT OUR AMAZON PEACOCK BASS FISHERIES:
- South: Water levels are extremely low including River Plate’s exclusive Marmelos Indian Reserve. For many areas, this year continues to be one of the driest year for the South on record!
- Mid-South: Water levels are perfect and should hold up well until Nov 30th including River Plate’s exclusive Matupiri Indian Reserve. However, we would have almost "fished out" our exclusive area by the end of October and be moving the Fly-In Floating Cabins to the Mid-North fisheries
- Mid-North: (Unini Preserve and South Negro tributaries in the Barcelos area) Water levels at the headwaters of some of these Negro tributaries are already very good, 3 weeks earlier than usual.
- North: (North Negro tributaries in the Barcelos area). Water levels at all North Negro tributaries are dropping very fast, which is not normal this time of the year. Water levels should be good as of late Oct., 6-10 weeks earlier than usual !!
-
North-East: (Roraima State). Some of Río Branco’s tributaries water levels, including River Plate’s exclusives, such as the upper Taperá, Xeurini, Omero and upper Shufari are also dropping fast, which is not normal for this time of the year. Water levels should be good as of late Oct., 10-12 weeks earlier than usual !
