Mid-Week Fishing Report: Jan 11 – 13, 2020 (2 ½ days)

BEST AVAILABLE WATERS @ THE RIO BRANCO BASIN THIS WEEK

 

Week end´s tally (2 ½ days):

Note: this 2 1/2 days report is to rush last weekend’s conditions to our incoming anglers.

Xeruini in Dry-Zone N. East -: Last Saturday we received the Coszby Jr.  group of 7 anglers. Water levels are still a bit high but very fishable and dropping. Weather forecast shows only some mild rain episodes towards the weekend but no rain form next week, fishing conditions improving by the day (pls. see below).

Branco lakes in Dry-Zone N. East -: Last Saturday we received the Raarsh group of 8 anglers. They had a great start landing 460 peacock bass plus a varied mix in the basket including aruanas, trairas, red tails, pirarucus, etc. Forecast promises is uniform in the area showing some rain episodes towards the weekend.

Itapará in Dry-Zone N. East -:The Silvara group of 6 arrived last Saturday and had a nice start landing over 90 peacock bass. Water levels on this fishery are quickly dropping to their optimum level and very fishable. Fishing conditions for the next days according to the forecasts are excellent with only some rain towards the weekend (pls. see below)

in Dry-Zone N. East

Omero lakes and Maú river in Dry-Zone N.East

Xeruini and in a lesser degree Itapará fishery in Dry-Zone N.East

Guess work

The Omero lakes and the Maú river present good water levels, dropping and very fishable. Maú river is a bit below the optimum and the Omero lakes a bit above the optimum but both very fishable. Tendency is confirmed by the forecasts for Caracarai, and Barcelos (see below), that show no significant rain in the coming days.

The Xeruini river still presents water levels a bit above the optimum, but very fishable, water cycle has been somewhat delayed this season, but dropping tendency is firm, please see forecast below for Barcelos and Caracarai.

The Itapará river still presents water levels a bit above the optimum, it is quickly dropping and very fishable, it is expected to reach optimum levels soon, please see forecast below for Rorainopolis and Caracarai.

The triangle within Barcelos, Caracaraí and Rorainopolis in the area of influence of our Xeruini, Omero and Itapará fisheries forecasts above showing some rain episodes towards the weekend and  sunshine for the next week.

Find below the quarterly rainfall for Jan, Feb and March showing that we should expect below normal rainfall in the area of our private fisheries (red), confirming dropping tendency for the quarter.

Water level measurements at the Caracarai station (see below) are now within the historical parameters. Please see red circle in stations map above. The Omero, Xeruini and Itapará drains into de Branco river and will keep dropping.

Note: red line are 2019 water levels, the light blue strip is the 15 to 85% probability, the dotted line is the median and the yellow line is the historic minimum

 

Water level measurements at the Barcelos station (see below) are a bit above the historical parameters. The Jufaris fishery drains directly at the Negro river in the area of influence of this station, so the water cycle is delayed this season for this fishery presenting higher than normal water levels.  Please see red circle in stations map above.
