Mid-Week Fishing Report: Jan 18 – 20, 2020 (2 ½ days)

FISHING NOW RIO BRANCO TRIBUTARIES

 

Week end´s tally (2 ½ days):

Note: this 2 1/2 days report is to rush last weekend’s conditions to our incoming anglers.

Xeruini in Dry-Zone N. East –: Last week the Coszby Jr.  group of 7 anglers finished the week with over 700 landed peacock bass, though no trophies were reported. Water levels continue to be a bit high but very fishable and dropping. Weather forecast shows no significant rain episodes in the coming days. Fishing conditions continue to improve daily (pls. see below). The Powers group arriving last Saturday had a nice start landing over 150 peacock bass, though no trophies have been reported yet.

Branco lakes in Dry-Zone N. East -: Last Saturday we received the Lawson group at our camp IV now in the Omero and the Shoy group at our camp III at the Branco lakes, both of 8 anglers. Both groups had a great start landing over 400 peacock bass each plus a varied mix in the basket including aruanas, trairas, matrinxas, bicudas, etc. Forecast promises is uniform in the area showing some insignificant rain episodes towards the weekend.

Itapará in Dry-Zone N. East -: Last week the Silvara group landed over 400 peacock bass with 7 trophies from 17 labs to 20 lbs.. This week´s basket for the Warfield group already includes 3 trophies above the 17 lbs mark.  Water levels on this fishery keep dropping towards their optimum level and are very fishable. Fishing conditions for the next days according to the forecasts are excellent with only some mild rain towards the weekend (pls. see below)

Guess work

The Omero lakes and the Maú river present good water levels, dropping and very fishable. Maú river is a bit below the optimum and the Omero lakes at their optimum both very fishable. Tendency is confirmed by the forecasts for Caracarai, and Barcelos (see below), that show no significant rain until next weekend.

The Xeruini river still presents water levels a bit above the optimum, but very fishable,  dropping tendency is firm, please see forecast below for Barcelos and Caracarai.

The Itapará river still is dropping and very fishable, it is expected to reach optimum levels in the coming days, please see forecast below for Rorainopolis and Caracarai.

The triangle within Barcelos, Caracaraí and Rorainopolis in the area of influence of our Xeruini, Omero and Itapará fisheries forecasts above showing some minor  rain episodes towards the weekend and sunshine for the next week.

Find below the quarterly rainfall for Jan, Feb and March showing that we should expect below normal rainfall in the area of our private fisheries (red), confirming dropping tendency for the quarter.

Water level measurements at the Caracarai station (see below) are now within the historical parameters. Please see red circle in stations map above. The Omero, Xeruini and Itapará drains into de Branco river and will keep dropping.
