A dream come true, best fishing trip of my life. BIG THANK YOU to our guide and host, we will return. … Travis Sleighter
Reasons for this Season´s good fishing results are our various private fisheries distributed in the different Dry-Zones. This season´s changing water levels have once again confirmed our vision. Our guests continue to enjoy good peacock bass  fishing conditions while the  public areas on the  Barcelos / Negro Basin  , Dry Zone N.West and part of Dry-Zone N.East, as of 3 weeks ago are almost all  flooded, and the not flooded areas are packed with competitors!
Heavy rain is expected towards the end of the week in all the area, starting on Friday, but should benefit  our fishing since many fisheries are even too dry for navigation.

 Dry-Zone S.East
Water levels are high, closed for the season, which is normal for this time of the year.
  Dry-Zone S.West
Water levels are high,  closed for the season, which is normal for this time of the year.
(beige in map above) Dry-Zone N.West
Water levels are about 3.0 ft. above jungle level and rising which is not normal for this time of the year. The Negro influence is being felt in the lower sectors of the Xeruini and Jufaris, floating suites are now moving upriver towards good water levels.
 Dry-Zone N.East
The Branco basin is in its normal receding cycle. Fishing conditions continue to be good in all our fisheries. Negligible rain during the weekend and heavy rain is expected on Friday, Saturday.

NOTE that the green area at the North affecting the Amazon basin and our fisheries is now lighter, this makes us believe that it might have a positive influence (70%) in our fisheries, averting extreme low water levels for the rest of the season.

Rio Branco basin Season at its finest
“The complete adventure was excellent! We will return!”
Bill Rothrock – Jan 2018
“I´ve fished various River Plate lodges over the years, and this was one of the best we have been to.”
Micheal Rockenbach – Jan 2018
“River Plate, on behalf of all of us, the fishing trip was one of the best if not the best we ever had. We caught an unusual amount of BIG fish. We can´t thank you all enough …”
Pat Scherzer – Jan 2018
Note: this 2 1/2 days report is to rush last weekend´s conditions to our incoming anglers.
Anglers arriving this week continue to benefit from the delicate equilibrium of the slowly rising Negro basin and the slowly receding Branco basin, that benefits directly our private fisheries in the upper Xeurini and Jufaris rivers. Moreover negligible rain is expected for the coming days. All in all, excellent fishing conditions for the near future.
Fly fishermen it Floating Suites I in the upper Xeruini are having a blast with sight fishing, while traditional bait-casters in the other fisheries are seeing great top-water action straining their tackle to the very limit.

24 lbs. Trophy Peacock Bass landed at the Itapará
"Tremendous experience!! Our guide worked very hard to make our trip a success, and the camp staff made the experience wonderful. More than I expected, though I would like to have caught a 20 pounder ... "
T.J. Christl - Jufaris, Jan 2018
" I just got back from my second annual trip with River Plate. Had a great time. The four guides at the Upper Jufaris were great, we had Gee Gee and his expertise at wood-chopper tuning is genius level"
Emery Jakab - Jufaris, Jan 2018
Dry-Zone N.East (see map below) is fishing at its finest. Yet again last week groups with 39 anglers beat the 5.000 landed peacock bass mark.
Last weekend at our Itapará private fishery, several trophies above the 17lbs benchmark were caught and released, with the (up to now) season record of 24lbs.. Simultaneously the Jufaris and Xeruini produced plenty of  graceful aruanás, massive arapaimas, and several other species supplementing the peacock bass tally and enhancing the blissful experience. Fishing conditions are good, no rain during the weekend and forecasts show no significant rain for the rest of the week in our fisheries.
