934 PEACOCKS WITH  6% BETWEEN  10-18 lbs !

 

Outstanding yields last week at our Kabori and Omero private fisheries with respectively 1893 and 934 Peacock bass landed by 18 anglers in both Floating Suits with an outstanding 6% between 10-18 lbs. for the Omero anglers. Our two operations with 15 anglers in the large private fishery Jufaris did reasonably well despite a bit high water levels , but now dropping. Arriving anglers last weekend enjoyed excellent fishing conditions with a promising start with many a few anglers landing over 60 peacock bass in 2 ½ days. Our final days at the Omero lakes brings closure to a notable season in this quaint private fishery. Blasting numbers and a wide variety of species challenged visiting anglers without respite. Homongous pirarucus over 100 lbs also played their part in the active week as well as Cará-açú, Surubim, Piranha, Jacundá , Bicuda, Cachorra, Jatuarana e Pirapitinga, Aruanã.    

 Dry-Zone S.East  Water levels are high, closed for the season, which is normal for this time of the year.  Dry-Zone S.West  Water levels are rising but still very operative, as a contingency for unexpected water level variations in the North.   Dry-Zone N.West  Water levels are a bit high but very fishable, the Branco basin water cycle is a bit delayed but forecast is better. Headwaters of the Jufaris are picking up. Some rain episodes expected towards the end of the week. Dry-Zone N.East   Water levels keep dropping rapidly, presenting spots with excellent fishing conditions as the Omero which is excellent and having produced notable yields, the Itapará and the Kabori are forecasted to reach excellent conditions in the next week.

BREAKING WATER AT THE XERUINI RIVER PRIVATE FISHERY

Last weekend the Oliveira mixed group of baitcasters and fly-fishermen broke waters at the headwaters of our private fishery in the Xeruini river. They landed 827 peacock bass in only 2 1/2 days, the largest of which weighed 16lbs. Great action at the Omero lakes. Last week 8 anglers in the McCann group landed 2.388 peacock bass the largest of which weighed 18lbs., this weekend we received 6 anglers in the Ross group that had a good start with 460 landed peacock bass. Lots of top water action and a considerable multi species basket including: Cará-açú, Surubim, Pirarucu, Piranha, Jacundá , Bicuda, Cachorra, Jatuarana e Pirapitinga, Aruanã. The Cozby group  fishing last week at the Jufaris private fishery passed the 19lbs mark within excellent mbr./size ratios. The two 8 anglers parties arriving last Saturday are fishing reasonably well with the water a bit high, but dropping. Fishing should improve throughout the week. Best working lures as reported by the host are yozuri, perversa, helice, jigs.

OMERO LAKES FISHING AT ITS FINEST !

Last week the Coimbra group (10 anglers) landed 1.974 peacock bass with 117 above the 10lbs. mark at the Omero lakes fishery. Last weekend the McCann group had a great start and in only 2 1/2 days landed 994 peacock bass the largest of which weighed 17lbs. and, 2 pirarucus over 50lbs. Other species caught included aruanas, pirarucu, pirapitinga, cara, surubi, cachorra, tambaqui and the traditional piranhas, making a challenging mix even for the more savvy anglers. Camp reports that best working lures are yozuri, joao pepino, perversa, propellers and jigs. The Simpkins group (6 anglers) fishing last week at the Jufaris landed 948 peacock bass the largest of which weighed 16lbs. Water levels at the Jufaris continue to a bit high but dropping. This week´s arriving groups endured some heavy rain episodes and had a slow start, fishing conditions are expected to improve significantly during the rest of the week, see forecasts below.

The above diagram depicts the rainfall probability for the next three months. The light green zone in the North forecasts a probability of about 35% that the rainfall will be above the historical mean. Therefore, the dry water cycle is expected to develop almost normal in the coming months in the North of Manaus (Dry-Zones N.West and N.East).
